IS YOUR RESERVE TANK FULL?
As your strength fades out do you have anything in your reserve tank? Praying is where the action is.
Exodus 17:8-13
What does this have to do with prayer?
There were millions of Israelis that came out of Egypt. Amalek was just like satan. He waited until they were tired and weak, and then he attacked. This is the way satan does it. When we are worn out and tired, it is then that he will often attack.
Moses decided he had to do something to stop Amalek, so he decided it was time to go to war. Amalek was experienced in warfare, he had been battling a long time. In contrast, when the Israelis left Egypt they took gold, silver, and animals, but it doesn’t say in the scripture that they took horses and chariots or any instruments of war.
Nonetheless, God said send Joshua to get ready to fight. More importantly, God wanted Moses to go up to the top of the mountain with Aaron and Hur at his side.
When Moses held up his hands to the Lord, Joshua would start winning the battle. When he put down his hands, Joshua would begin losing. Aaron and Hur saw what was happening, so they sat Moses down on a rock and held up his hands until the sun went down. It was then that they won the battle.
The battle was not won in the field of conflict, the battle was won on that hill. The hill was the place of prayer.
- Our life battles are won or lost in our place of prayer
The success or failure of a church isn’t the preacher, his sermon, or the praise service. God doesn’t win battle from a pulpit. The church is successful when men and women of the church get on their knees and seek God’s face.
In the field of batlle what you see is not the determinative factor. You may go somewhere you are outnumbered, but you still come out as a winner if you fight the battle in prayer. Your battle is won on your face before God.
Prayer is one way of filling up the reserve tank. You may be out of gas from the busyness of your day, but the reserve tank of prayer will carry you through
- When you pray, you will begin to see God in a different light.
God will clear your mind when you come to Him in prayer. Like the rock that Moses sat on, Jesus is your rock. If you stand upon the rock, stand upon Jesus, He will surround you with angels and a canopy of protection. Standing on that rock will give you all the resources you will ever need for the present. When you recognize that Jesus is all you need, He will release whatever you need to face any battle that comes your way.
Man did not invent lifting of hands. It was God that ordained it. Focus on Him, on your knees, lifting your hands. When God sees this, He hears our prayers and praise and sees our lifted hands, and then He responds. He releases His supernatural, sovereign, omnipotent power into your situation.
