GOD’S PROVISION FOR YOU – Part 1
There are at least four different ways the Word shows us how God provides for you. We are going to look at four of these ways; two today and two next Sunday.
- GOD PROVIDES THROUGH THE HAND OF A MAN
Genesis 45:7 – And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
Joseph went from being sold into slavery and put into prison, to Pharoah making him the number two ruler in all of Egypt. In a dream, Joseph saw that Egypt would have seven years of prosperity followed by seven years of famine. When the brothers who sold Joseph into slavery came to Egypt during the family seeking an allotment of food, they came face to face with their brother. Joseph could have been bitter and sent them away. But instead, he told them not to be afraid for God sent him to Egypt before them so that with his own hands he could take care of them during the famine.
Don’t be fussy about who blesses you. God can use atheists or even devil worshippers to bless you. God used Pharaoh to bless Joseph. When God gives you a blessing, He often uses the hand of a man, any man.
In turn, you should give to God, because He will always make sure to give back to you.
Luke 6:38 – Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.
In this scripture, God is talking to givers. When you give to God, He will always make sure to give back to you. Look at Elijah and the widow woman. She was down to her last meal and knew that she and her son were going to die. But Elijah asked her for that last bit of food, and she gave it to him. God then blessed her with that little jar of oil that never stopped pouring until it filled all of the vessels she had in her house. God blessed her because she gave.
Although God blesses you through the hand of man, you can’t depend on one individual for too long. They are not your source. God is your source.
- GOD PROVIDES THROUGH SUPERNATURAL BLESSINGS FROM HIS OWN HAND.
Joseph was blessed through the hand of a man, Pharoah. But there came a time that there was a new king in Egypt who did not know of God, and he cut off the supply of food (Exodus 1:8). The Israelites were depending for their provision from the hand of a man, Joseph. But there came a time when their provision no longer came from the hand of that man. Then the time came when their provision of food came supernaturally from God – manna in the wilderness.
Eventually God will break your link with man and make Himself known as your source of provision. But to experience this, you have to be connected to Jesus. The Word makes this clear:
John 15:5 – I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God….
God is your source. You are not independent, but totally dependent on God for your provision.
A time will come when you find yourself in a place of transition, and God turns your life around. When He breaks that link you have with man’s hand, get ready, because it’s going to come from God’s hand now. Remember Elijah, he drank from the brook and was fed by a raven during the famine. God was the source that took him to these provisions.
When it’s time to move on, trust God. When He closes one door, He will open another one. He will give to you and prosper you according to the assignment He has given you. When you are faithful, you will experience more and more of His increase.
Philippians 4:19 – And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
