Psalm 40:3 (Message Bible) 3 He taught me how to sing the latest God-song, a praise-song to our God. More and more people are seeing this: they enter the mystery, abandoning themselves to God.
When you come in, you are in control; when you leave, you are in control; but when you enter into worship, you must abandon yourself to God and let HIM be in control.
Genesis 22:5
The Hebrew word for “abandon” is the same word as “trust. The way to yield control to God is by worshiping Him. Abraham to trust God through worshiping Him.
How do we trust God more? By getting to know His character. The more we get to know Him, the more we will trust Him.
1) GOD IS OMNIPOTENT – all powerful. When you get to know God as having power over all, it becomes easier to yield control to Him through worship and to trust Him.
2) GOD IS OMNISCIENT – all knowing. We learn to yield control to God when we realize that God knows everything, for He is the one that created the world.
2 Samuel 15:26 – David trusted God to do what was best. David then abandoned himself in worship (2 Samuel 15:32)
And therein lies the “mystery” that David wrote of in Psalm 40:3 — abandon yourself to God in your worship, and He will step in and take control of whatever it is that concerns you.
3) GOD IS OMNIPRESENT – He is everywhere, always, at all times, and forever.
Hebrews 13:5 – He said He would never leave you nor forsake you. He said this over and over again from the beginning of time:
Deuteronomy 31:6
Deuteronomy 31:8
Joshua 1:5
Joshua -14 –5:13 — Jesus showed up and said, “I’m here to take over.”
