1 Timothy 2:1-2
If you believe prayer makes a difference, why don’t you do it more?
Jeremiah 32:8-11
Two deeds: a closed deed and an open deed. Jeremiah’s father owned a parcel of land–a “closed deed”. However, he died when Jeremiah was young. His mother was unable to work the land, so she gave a relative an “open deed” allowing them to use the land until Jeremiah was old enough to redeem his “closed deed”.
Two rights: Jeremiah had the “right of inheritance” to his father’s “closed deed” for the parcel of land. When he became an adult, Jeremiah had the “right of redemption” whereby he would now control the land instead of the relative.
Applying this historically: Even though the Israelites were taken captive to Babylon, they still owned the “closed deed” as their “right of inheritance.” After 70 years, they exercised their “right of redemption” and took possession of the promised land.
Applying this to the messianic: God gave an “open deed” to Adam, but maintained the “closed deed” for Jesus, who had the “right on inheritance.” Adam gave the “open deed” to satan, but Jesus exercised His “right of redemption.”
