Calling All Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers…
The other morning as our congregation was awaiting departure for a lovely day of fellowship together, I was interrupted by a woman walking by the church who introduced herself as a “minister”. As she stopped and began to speak with me, it was clear after a few initial friendly comments that her intentions were anything but friendly. I was bluntly (if not rudely) demanded to answer her a litany of specific questions regarding the Lord and His Holy Spirit, not as a means of reaching a lost soul, but rather as a means to qualify our church according to her personal & denominational beliefs.
My oh my. How tragic to realize in this day and age of total chaos within our society, and nations everywhere around the world rumbling in blatant rebellion against Almighty God, that some ministers and some churches feel they have the revelation knowledge and absolute authority alone to share the Good News of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit to the masses of folks who are lost and hurting everywhere.
Simply said, it is important to understand that we are either for God or against God. No single Christian denomination has dominion over the interpretation of the Gospel… “And John answered and said, “Master, we saw one casting out devils in Thy name, and we forbid him, because he follows not with us.” And Jesus said to him “Forbid him not; for he that is not against us, is for us.” Luke 9:49-50.
If we are to reach those who are truly hurting from the enemy’s controlling deception over their lives, the Church has to grow up. It’s time to lay aside such pettiness and self-righteousness and come together in unity as the true Body of Christ and focus on the task at hand… reaching as many souls as possible for the Kingdom of God.
How will people ever know and understand the love, forgiveness, salvation, redemption, deliverance and healing freely given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through His death and resurrection, unless they see the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control within us all. That is our true “test” and calling as Christians and as Children of the King… representing Jesus by endeavoring to be Christ-like every moment of our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit, until the whole world knows.
Let’s never forget the words of the Apostle Paul…. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:3-6.
